Painting is great fun and a great way to teach children about colours and colour mixing. An art party that involves paint will most likely be a mixed media party, meaning we would use more than one medium. These are some examples that have been done. Paint is great for all parties, and the older kids really enjoy doing "art in the style of"....where they get to be the master painter. I have also included some paintings done by past students of mine.

Pastel Party

Pastels are great materials for children to practice their drawing skills with. I am often asked, "what is the difference between crayons and pastels?" Crayons tend to be more waxy than pastels which can have a creamy blendable texture. Pastel parties are fun and children will enjoy following a step by step lesson creating an image that they choose. Often days or weeks after a party children are able to duplicate the drawing by following the simple steps they have learned.
These are just some of the pastel drawings that I have done with my students. Embellishments can also be added in some cases.

Host a clay party for your son or daughters birthday party! Here are some examples of sculptures that I have made from clay. Remember, I will work with you on the theme so we create a piece of art that will be cherished for years to come.
Clay can be painted once dry using water based paints. After the paint is dry, to give your piece a shine apply Podge, available at art stores and Walmart.
